Little licks

Solos are made of words, not the alphabet.

Running the scale up and down is reciting the alphabet. A lick is a word — three to five notes that say something.

Learn three tiny ones, then change an ending and make one yours.

Play one lick over and over until you get bored — boredom is where the variations come from.
